  • Director & Registered Builder

    The builder has been in the trade for over twelve years, first starting off as a joiner completing kitchens, bathrooms and studies you name it! After being a joiner for many years he decided to strive for more and took up a carpentry apprenticeship with the long term goal of becoming a registered builder. In 2020 during the middle of the pandemic the builder signed up to complete his building certificate, after a long challenging eight months he successfully gained his certificate and is now a registered builder (this is different to a carpenter!). Welcoming his first born son, George in 2022 gave the builder the courage to start his own business to achieve a better work/family life balance.

  • Gemma is a Physiotherapist by trade and has been for five years. Recently she took the step away from physio to grow and raise the next generation of Hardy Construction Group (George & James). While raising her sons, Gemma keeps the business running from behind the scenes- emails, accounts, bookkeeping and socials. Gemma has an eye for design and practicality when it comes to designing renovations to suit your family/budget.

At Hardy Construction Group, we specialise in custom renovations and custom home builds in Ballarat and surrounding areas. We are not here to chase television fame or become a large commercial building company. Instead, we focus on what we do best: creating high quality, character filled family homes that are built to last.

As a small, family run builder in Ballarat, our passion lies in thoughtful renovations and truly custom builds, not one size fits all packages. Every home we work on is tailored to the family living in it, with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship at every stage.

The decision to start Hardy Construction Group was driven by a desire for better work life balance. Being a present father and husband matters. That means attending swimming lessons, birthday parties, and being there for the moments that count. Growing into a large building company with endless employees would take away from that purpose and from the level of care we give our clients.

By choosing a local Ballarat builder that is small and family focused, you can expect our full attention on your renovation or custom build. We take on only a limited number of projects at a time, allowing us to stay hands on and involved throughout your build.

We do not offer fixed inclusion or exclusion packages. Instead, we work transparently with you to avoid hidden costs and unexpected out of pocket expenses. While a custom renovation or build may take a little longer, we believe in doing it properly the first time. We never cut corners, and we never rush quality.
